Welcome to the Castle in Oldham where 3 local acts proved their point to become the next Red Stripe Music Award winner, and follow in the footsteps of the Runners.
Nadia Lowe was Oldham’s starting act in the line-up. Her Jamaican background was perfectly fitting the Red Stripe’s roots, with the majority of the crowd waving flags to support this excellently soulful acoustic singer. The catchy songs and intricate guitar playing allowed the audience to become captivated by this young performer.
Got Got Need gave a solid rock performance which went down really well with the crowd. The band was truly enthusiastic about their future and even wielded CDs for sale during and after their act. Some really good songs were on show here and a professional performance.
To headline the RSMA Oldham gig were the young 4 piece Swings and Roundabouts, who being local lads drummed up a fantastic support from their northern town. The band’s set was certainly great for helping lift the enthusiastic crowd and with songs styled in the form of the Libertines and White Stripes, nobody was let down.
