You would wonder how The Subways breaking onto the comparably low-fi stage of The Green Room would have any weight on the band.

Anticipation is building as the crowds gather by the skip outside Liverpool?s cult venue The Zanzibar, chosen by local heroes Hot Club de Paris to host their curation of the Red Stripe ?Bring it On Back? (BIOB) homecoming gig series. The third in this free gig series created by Red Stripe, Hot Club know they?ve got a lot to live up to following in the footsteps of BIOB veterans The Rifles held at the Shunt Vaults, London in January and The View held at the Doghouse, Dundee back in April.

The View, The View? The View are on fire? there couldn?t have been more of a commotion at the indie upstarts homecoming gig if the band had actually walked onstage ablaze, literally anyway?
When The View left their hometown of Dundee at the start of 2006 they were unknown teenagers with futile wet dreams of Libertine-esque stardom, but on their return, - having conquered the world with their awesome debut album ?Hats Off To The Buskers? - they arrive as rock ?n? roll superheroes.

There seems to be a new kind of gig out there, something outside normality, reason and rationale. They come in the form of Red Stripe nights, which are happening across the country, the first being held recently at the London Shunt Vaults.
Somewhere beneath London Bridge a cluster of people waited to get into the first of these ?free gigs?, that night featuring Jam-like upstarts The Rifles, a band who?ve been beavering away cultivating their sound over the past few years and are now ready to showcase their latest beefed-up personas.
