There must be something special in Hertfordshire’s water that fuels the growth of outstanding musical talent. The county is home to last year’s Red Stripe Music Award winners The Runners and going by the quality of the bands at last night’s RSMA gig at Hitchin’s Club 85, local gig goers aren’t short of some quality acts to champion.
First on were Roadrunner, a great local band with real personality and stage presence, who treated the growing crowd to a few of their freshly penned lyrics. The Art of Opposition kept the pace up with a polished performance before Waylaid took centre stage. These guys raised the bar without question, banging out an indie rock set of true class, only to be followed by the equally impressive The Black Tricks.
Closing the show were local boys Exit Avenue, who whipped the baying fans into a frenzy, with their brand of American influenced, high energy pop!
Who knows, with Club 85 providing a fitting stage for this heat, could Hertfordshire deliver another Red Stripe Music Award winner?
